Healthy, Happy Plants Policy

We are committed to sourcing and supplying the healthiest, happiest plants we can. For us this means working with trust worthy, quality growers in the UK and Europe. We will always look to local growers first for our needs but when they can't supply to the high standards we require, at prices our customers are happy to pay, we will look further afield. We are proud of our Brit Pots campaign and always buy British before crossing the water.

Healthy plants - are plants of the highest quality. We work closely with experts to ensure that we are always aware of the latest health issues affecting the horticulture industry. On known issues we have a firm policy....

  • Xylella - we will not buy any of the major host plants from overseas. All UK stock must have originated in the UK and our growers have to provide documentation to confirm this. On occasions, this may mean that we can't stock these plants but we believe this is better for the health of the British garden and more important than achieving a sale. In addition we won't purchase plants on the wider 'at risk' list from countries with the infection. Should the issue move within 100 miles of an existing supplier, within another country, we will stop purchasing the listed plants from that grower as well.
  • Plant Passports - we support this system vigorously and will ensure that we maintain all records.
  • Neonicotinoids - we believe that plants and gardens should always be a positive influence on the environment and wildlife. We are working with all our plant suppliers as we don't want to sell plants that contain anything harmful to bees or any other creature.

We take an active stance on all plant health issues and look to always be at the forefront of best practice. When an issue is identified that could impact on us, our customers and/or their gardens we react as quickly as possible; seeking expert opinion to assist us in our decision process.
